Once you get used to it and its quirks (try looking up all the tips and tricks) the advantages are clear. It looks good especially for image only blogs (lots of themes, customizing, etc), it's easy, and in my opinion/case I have more feedback and active followers.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have seen that Tumblr has a major potential for reaching more people through the system of reblogging. I am starting to mantain more sites than I can count with one hand and its reaching an absurd point; IŽll have to settle with the ones that are worth.

Yes it's a pain. I use DA, Tumblr, and ConceptArt.org. I've tried others but I just don't like them. Using social media sites like Facebook or Google + is ridiculous for art but handy to leave a few sample works and contact info but nothing more. And a personal .com won't get any traffic unless you're already known.

Try getting a hit counter, that will tell which sites are worth it.

I guess IŽll have to learn a bit of html for small editions in Tumblr.
